There's more to AustLII than just the web site. Below are some "user tools" to help you get the most out of what we offer.

AustLII Toolbar

The AustLII Toolbar allows you to search AustLII from any website page. It also includes a menu which lists most of the major category materials for all Australasian jurisdictions. The toolbar is available for the SeaMonkey Suite v1.x, Mozilla Firefox 1.x and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x or later web browsers.

LawCite

The LawCite International Case Citator includes citations of Australian cases and those of other countries whose case data is available through the Free Access to Law Movement. It includes numerous citations of Australian cases by overseas courts.

Mailing List

Join the News from AustLII mailing list to keep up to date with what's happening with AustLII. The list is low volume (three newsletters per year). An Archive of past issues is also available.

Update Status for Case Law

The Update Status for Case Law script generates a summary page for each Australian jurisdiction which lists the date on which each AustLII cases database was last updated and the date of the most recent decision included in it. It also notes any issues affecting the cases databases.

Update Status for Journals

The Update Status for Journals script generates a summary page which lists the date of the most recent issue included in each journal database. It also notes any issues affecting the journal databases.

Update Status for Legislation

The Update Status for Legislation script generates a summary page which lists the date on which each AustLII legislation database was last updated. It also notes any issues affecting the legislation databases.

UserMark

If you have your own HTML documents online or on your computer then you can use AustLII's automated markup scripts to insert hyperlinks into the document for you. UserMark will automatically insert links to cases, legislation and sections within legislation and return the new HTML to you for saving / downloading.

User Guide

A user guide that you can print out and refer to when using AustLII. More detailed guides on specific features are available in our comprehensive Online Help.

Alternative Home Pages

Feel like a change in scenery? One of our users sent in this alternative design. You can make this your starting page for AustLII by bookmarking this page instead of the home page.

For fans of the old two-column look from pre-July 2004, you can still use old home page. The content of all pages is the same -- only the layout is different.

For fans of the even older look, you can still use older home page. The content of all pages is the same -- only the layout is different.

If you develop web sites or web pages then consult our Technical Library for more technical information , standards and tools.
